West Hill Project
Summit Construction continued it's role as the construction
manager for the Akron Summit County Public Library (ASCPL)
branch extension program. The new West Hill Library branch is
located in the Highland Square area and was built at the site of
the previous branch. While working with owner and architect, our
behind the scenes activities included program review and
implementation, site feasibility study, constructability
reviews, budget analysis and bid process.
The building is a single story slab-on-grade with structural
steel and metal studs, brick veneer with storefront glazing, and
a tower at the children's area. The interior finishes consisted
of painted drywall, acoustic wall fabric, ceramic tile flooring
and wall covering, exposed painted ceiling structure and
acoustic ceilings, and various casework items.
Utilizing budgeted monies that were established in 1997, we are
proud to state that the project was delivered to the owner under
budget with 2007 dollars.
