Medill Students Welcome New School

Making the conclusion of winter break a little sweeter, the fifth and final brand new Lancaster City Schools elementary school was opened just in time for the new year. A huge crowd packed into the auditorium to witness the culmination of Lancaster's elementary building project, and now every K-5 student and teacher has a place in a state-of-the-art building.

The grand opening of Medill started with a message from the Superintendent, Steve Wigton. He stated, "Educating the youth of our community is one of the most important responsibilities of our society. It is the future of our children that are at stake, and as such, the future of our society is at stake. Receiving an education is a life changing experience which empowers people to become successful in life. Therefore, it is important that we have modern facilities such as our new elementary schools because a modern educational environment is best to carry out the important work of educating our children. In 2012, as a community, you recognized that important need to provide modern elementary schools for the future of our children by passing a bond levy to fund the construction of 5 new elementary schools. Medill was the last of the 5 elementary schools to open, so our elementary construction project is now complete. Thank you for making the dream of new elementary schools become a reality for the children of Lancaster City Schools."

Summit Construction is proud to have been one of the partners to make this a reality and give the community two beautiful, new schools.
