Back in July, we announced the start of construction for Middlebury Commons, a new income driven apartment complex for seniors being built in Akron’s Middlebury neighborhood.  Summit is the general contractor for this 60,000 SF 3-story building emerging on the corner of E. Market and Broad Streets.  The project is scheduled for completion in the late summer of 2019.

Of the 60,000 SF, 14,000 SF will house retail spaces along E. Market St. The majority of the remaining space will include one and two bedroom apartments. 

As we approach the beginning of December, the interior and exterior CMU (concrete masonry unit) walls including the stairwells and elevator shaft are complete.  All the retaining walls surrounding the building are complete, and as the 2nd floor framing is progressing, the fire alarm system, electrical and plumbing are beginning.
