Tim Baden and Dion Canfield

Columbus, Ohio

On Wednesday, March 11th, Summit Safety Director, Tim Baden CSP, DSC, and Assistant Safety Director, Dion Canfield, attended the 2026 Ohio Safety Congress Conference (OSC26) at the Columbus Convention Center.

Tim served as a speaker at this year's conference, addressing mental health in first responders.

The session explored key themes from "Big Fish Small Pond" by Tim Baden, focusing on what happens after burnout and how to rediscover purpose, confidence, and direction.

Designed for professionals in high-pressure industries like tech, healthcare, and finance, this session offered a roadmap to those feeling stuck or disillusioned. Through insights on personal reinvention and resilience, attendees learned how to navigate the aftermath of burnout and begin thriving again.

After the session, Tim hopes attendees were able to:

  • Recognize the signs and stages of burnout and understand its long-term impact on personal and professional identity
  • Explain key themes from Big Fish Small Pond that address recovery, reinvention, and finding renewed purpose
  • Identify strategies for rebuilding confidence and navigating career transitions after burnout
  • Engage in reflective exercises to clarify values, strengths, and next steps for sustainable growth
