Akron, Ohio

This spring, Summit Construction was selected to provide construction management services for the Create the Future Project - the renovation of the historic 1899 Building of the Akron Art Museum.

The 21,431 SF renovation will transform three floors of the historic 1899 Building into a creative hub featuring art exhibition areas, classrooms, offices, gallery space, and the museum’s first ever “Idea Machine.”

“Part of our Centennial Campaign, this effort is more than just a renovation—it’s a comprehensive strategy to enhance the Museum’s operations, expand its educational programs, and ensure long-term sustainability.”

The long-awaited project was officially kicked off on July 11th and joined by Akron Mayor Shammas Mallik, Brian Nelson, Chief of Staff to Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro, valued members of the Akron community, and the museum’s donors who are making the project possible.
