Last summer, the Summit team began construction on an 18,000-square-foot Innovation Center, expanding the existing Green Building at Buckeye Hills Career Center. Since breaking ground in 2025, the project has made substantial progress. As spring approaches, the structure is becoming an increasingly prominent feature on campus.

The building is now completely under roof, with parts even being dried in, or watertight. Exterior sheathing is being installed around the building - a structural layer of panels that strengthens and stabilizes the wall framing while providing a base for weatherproofing and the exterior siding that will be added later.
HVAC subcontractors are installing overhead piping and ductwork on the first and second floors, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing is in place. In-wall rough-ins are also moving forward at full speed.

Framing work is highly active right now, with interior framing wrapping up on the first floor and beginning on the second.
Outside of the building, the retaining wall has been backfilled, or filled with material to support the structure, manage water drainage, and essentially hold back the earth.
Summit Construction is collaborating with VSWC Architects for this exciting project that will expand opportunities for both career education and community health.
