Summit begins Facilities and Grounds Building project for Akron Zoo

This spring, Summit Construction was awarded as CMR for the Akron Zoo Facilities & Grounds Building, designed by TC Architects.

The new 8,932 SF single-story building with a partial mezzanine will support the Zoo’s operations through the addition of administrative spaces, meeting rooms, locker room, restrooms, storage, maintenance shop, and parking.

As we approach mid-July, construction is in full swing and moving along on schedule. 

Update from the Project Team: 

  • Foundation walls are complete 
  • Under slab rough-ins for electrical and plumbing have begun
  • Retention pond on schedule for completion this week
  • Storm sewer is 80% complete
  • Water and sanitary tie-ins are beginning this week
